The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) announced on the 18th that it successfully held the final presentation and awards ceremony for the ‘2024 Health and Medical Big Data Utilization Startup Competition.’

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the competition, and to promote participation, it participated in the Bio Korea 2024 exhibition booth and established a permanent promotional webpage within the HIRA Big Data Open Portal.

A total of 109 items were submitted for this competition, and a panel of judges consisting of experts in various fields such as investment, law, and data formed through a fair assessment in three stages selected 10 teams for the best, excellent, encouragement, and selected categories in each sector.

The ‘Wellysis’ team won the grand prize in the idea planning category, while the ‘Mago’ team won the grand prize in the product and service development category.

The Wellysis team proposed a ‘generative electrocardiogram multimodal platform using wearable devices,’ while the Mago team proposed a ‘mobile mental health management platform based on voice AI.’

Each team that received the highest scores in their respective categories qualifies to compete for the Presidential Award at the finals of the ‘12th Government-wide Public Data Utilization Startup Competition’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service plans to provide various follow-up support programs such as incubating programs in law, investment, and promotion, as well as 1:1 coaching with experts, to ensure that the excellent startups discovered through the startup competition utilizing health and medical big data can succeed in commercialization.

HIRA Director Ham Myung-il stated, “Through this competition, we have confirmed that high-quality health and medical data can be used as an important basis for improving public health,” and added, “In the future, HIRA will continue to expand the foundation for the utilization of public data to contribute to invigorating the data economy.”
